What does concrete grinding cost?

Current Floor Condition – Existing concrete floors that require patching, resurfacing, and preparation will increase the total grinding cost, because the flaws will need to be repaired before the final grind. Extensive surface preparation, such as grinding, crack repair, and spall repair, can add $2 per square foot to the overall cost of the floor grind. If a full resurfacing is needed, expect to add another $2 to $3 per square foot.

Grinding concrete takes not only skills, it also takes the right diamonds to cut concrete correctly. Generally, the harder the concrete floor, the softer the diamond needed to be to keep the diamonds cutting, and not glazing over. Using a 40 grit diamond to cut deep into the concrete, also takes head pressure above 625 psi. is recommended for any floor leveling, grinding high spots, 1st cut for polishing, or for a #4 profile for coatings. 80 grit diamonds are widely used to grind a #3 profile for coatings, floor leveler, and acrylics overlays.

The aggregate psi. of any concrete slab can be from 90,000 to 150,000 psi. To cut into the rock will take aggressive diamonds and head pressure to make any progress. Most people who rent a angle grinder and shop vac, learn very quickly, that it is easy to cut the top 1/32 inch of the slab, but when the high psi. rock starts to appear, the progress comes to a stop. Call us to take it to the next level fast. 602-418-2970
